PRP Aftercare & How Long Results Last (Hair and Facial)

You’ve had (or booked) a PRP session — now what? Here’s how to care for the treated area, and the honest answer to how long results last.

Aftercare for PRP hair treatments

First 24–48 hours:

  • Don’t wash your hair for at least 24 hours — let the platelets stay where they were placed
  • Skip styling products, hats, and helmets for the first day
  • No strenuous exercise or heavy sweating for 24–48 hours
  • Avoid saunas, hot tubs, and intense heat
  • Expect mild tenderness or tightness in the scalp — normal and short-lived

First week: be gentle when brushing, avoid harsh chemical treatments (colouring, relaxers) for about a week, and hold off on other scalp treatments until Crystal gives the go-ahead.

Aftercare for PRP facials

  • Expect redness like a mild sunburn for a day or so — that’s normal
  • No makeup for 24 hours; let the skin settle
  • Gentle cleanser and moisturizer only for the first couple of days
  • Sun protection is non-negotiable — SPF once your injector clears it, and avoid direct sun exposure early on
  • Skip actives (retinol, acids, exfoliants) for several days

For both treatments, you’ll leave with written aftercare — and you can always call or text with questions.

How long do PRP results last?

The honest answer, by treatment:

  • PRP hair restoration builds gradually across the 5-session program, with changes typically visible over several months. After the initial program, results are commonly maintained with a top-up session every 6–12 months — hair follicles need ongoing support, not a one-time fix.
  • PRP facials also build over a series; many people do a few sessions, then maintain once or twice a year.

Because PRP works with your biology, consistency matters more than intensity — and individual results vary (the full honest picture: does PRP work for hair loss).
