Lip Filler Shapes: Finding the Right Look for Your Face

Lip Filler Shapes: Finding the Right Look for Your Face

Scroll any injector’s feed and you’ll see a menu of lip “shapes” — but which one actually suits you? Here’s a practical guide to the common styles, and the truth about how the best result is chosen.

The common lip filler styles

  • Natural enhancement — your exact lip shape, gently amplified. Hydrated, fuller, undetectable as “work.” The most-requested style at our practice.
  • Defined cupid’s bow — emphasis on the peaks of the upper lip for a crisp, heart-shaped centre.
  • Classic volume — balanced fullness through the body of both lips, with the lower lip usually kept slightly fuller than the upper.
  • Lifted / “Russian” style — height and lift rather than projection, built with vertical placement (full guide: Russian lips).
  • Subtle flip alternative — if you mainly want the upper lip to show a touch more, a lip flip (a tiny Botox treatment, no filler at all) may be all you need.

The honest truth about choosing

The shape that photographs well on someone else’s face may not suit yours — lip results depend on your natural lip anatomy, tooth show, and facial proportions. A good injector doesn’t copy a reference photo pixel-for-pixel; she uses it to understand the direction you want, then builds a version that works with your features.

That’s how Crystal approaches every lip filler appointment: reference photos welcome, honest guidance on what will actually look good on you, and a conservative build (often one syringe to start) so you stay in control of the outcome.

Good to know before you book

  • Start subtle — you can always add; dissolving is a bigger step (see dissolving lip filler).
  • Swelling lies — lips look bigger for the first few days; judge the shape at two weeks (aftercare guide).
  • Longevity — most lip filler lasts 6–12 months (details here).
