Botox Aftercare: The Do's and Don'ts

Botox Aftercare: The Do's and Don'ts

Botox aftercare is simple, but the first 24 hours matter. Following a few easy guidelines helps the product settle exactly where it was placed and protects your results.

The first few hours: the do’s

  • Stay upright for about 4 hours after treatment.
  • Gently exercise the treated muscles (frown, raise your brows, smile) for the first hour if Crystal advises it — this can help the product take up.
  • Relax and carry on with light activities.

The first 24 hours: the don’ts

  • Don’t rub, massage, or apply pressure to the treated areas — this can move the product.
  • Don’t lie flat or face-down for about 4 hours.
  • Skip strenuous exercise for the rest of the day.
  • Avoid heat — saunas, hot yoga, hot tubs, and sunbeds for 24 hours.
  • Hold off on alcohol for the day (it can worsen bruising).
  • Avoid facials or other facial treatments for a couple of days.

What’s normal afterward

  • Small bumps or redness at the injection points that settle within an hour or two
  • Minor tenderness
  • Occasional light bruising

These are normal and short-lived. Results begin in 3–5 days and develop fully over about two weeks — so don’t judge the final look too early (more in how long Botox lasts).
